Rejecting Negative Thoughts

A spiritual seeker once asked me, “Is there a technique to reject negative thoughts?”

I was wondering, do we require a technique to reject negative thoughts?
Did we give you a technique to get angry, to hurt others and be dishonest?

No. Then how are you doing all this? Of course, quite naturally. Similarly, if you really want to reject the negative thoughts, just reject them! Don’t say, “I can’t reject them because you have not given me a technique!”

By asking for a technique, you are trying to find an excuse for your unwillingness to reject the negative thoughts. And by doing this, you blame the lack of a technique for your inability to reject them.

Accept your mistakes and shortcomings. Accept and own up your negative thoughts. Accept that you are responsible for them. Spirituality begins here.
Spirituality begins with being honest. We have negative thoughts when we are negative. The negative thoughts persist because we entertain them.

Have a genuine intent to not harbour them. Do not judge and condemn yourself. It is natural for us to have negative thoughts sometimes.

There are no techniques to reject the negative thoughts. Just be truly good, honest and simple all the time. You will not have any negative thoughts.
