A Touching Experience

A Touching Experience
(Based on the teachings of Guruji Krishnananda)

A lady took a taxi to come to Taponagara. The taxi driver told her that the place is very far and asked for quite a large amount of money. After travelling a short distance, she realised that the place was quite nearby, and that the taxi driver had taken her for a ‘ride’.

She told him that he was overcharging her, but he did not relent. They had an argument and he was very tough with her. She then told him in a very gentle way, “What you are doing is not good. If you had asked for more money, I would have given it to you with great love.”

When she arrived, she paid him what he had asked for, and the taxi went away.

After about 30 minutes, the taxi driver came back and returned the excess money he had charged. Overwhelmed, she thanked him and asked him to keep the money. He said, “How can I take it?” and left.

What made him do this?

We must understand that the Divine Essence is in everyone, which we call Conscience. This Divine Essence in him got stirred somehow.

Conscience works in everyone but most people suppress it. Conscience always works and shows us the right way but most don’t listen to it maybe because of the stress of living in this competitive world.

The taxi driver’s conscience must have been telling him right from the beginning that what he was doing was wrong. He was a good man and he finally responded to it.

We usually presume that people are bad; we should not do it. Everyone is good at the core. They only need to listen to their conscience and follow it.
