Maha Shivaratri

Maha Shivaratri
(Based on the teachings of Guruji Krishnananda)
Guruji Krishnananda
Guruji Krishnananda
Yesterday was the Sacred day of Maha Shivaratri. At midnight, the Great Rishis (Light Masters) travelled to the Divine Plane of Lord Shiva and brought a part of Him with them to our earth. So, Lord Shiva has literally come down to earth.
Lord Shiva is generally known as the Destroyer, because His energies are required for the destructive processes of the Cosmos. But the energies of Creation and Sustenance are also in Him.
Today morning before Sunrise, Lord Shiva entered every house as a ray of Light. His Divine Energies will be available on this earth as Light for ten days.
The Rishis apprise Lord Shiva of the Spiritual condition of this earth and its people. Based on this, Lord Shiva may give instructions to the Rishis, who are the administrators of this earth.
On the first day of Shivaratri, there is a custom of staying awake through the night. This practice is called ‘Jagarana’ in Sanskrit, which literally means, not sleeping. Just staying awake on one night does not help us spiritually in any way.
‘Jagarana’ is not about sleep deprivation. It is to be understood as Being Aware or Awakening. It is being aware of the Presence of Lord Shiva on earth.
During the ten days of Lord Shiva’s stay on earth, we can absorb more of His energies by meditating and channelling Light more, and also by trying to be aware of His energies and His Presence throughout the day.

May the Lord’s Divine energies destroy all the negativity and ignorance in us and help us awaken.

Enlightenment

Enlightenment
(Based on the teachings of Guruji Krishnananda)
Samadhi is beginning of our Spiritual journey
Samadhi is beginning of our Spiritual jurney
Before we reach the ultimate state of Enlightenment, we go through many stages of awakening.
It begins with the understanding at the intellectual level that we are souls and not these bodies. This understanding may come from reading a book or from some other source.
This understanding may lead to the realisation that we are just visitors to this planet and we are not permanent residents here. We realise that we come from a different Source, which is our true Home, and we have to go back someday. This is another awakening.
When we realise that we are particles of Light, which is God Himself, and that we are here to experience the Creation, it is yet another awakening.
The Creation was brought forth by God with the sole purpose of providing us the opportunities to experience.
The intellectual understanding that we are souls should ultimately lead to the realisation of this Truth by direct experience. We must be able to experience that we are not our body.
That is the beginning of Enlightenment.
Becoming aware of God’s Presence is an important step in Enlightenment. When we become aware of God’s Presence, we love Him and His Creation. We love this earth and everything on it because God created it. This realization is not easy.
When we love God, we should manifest it by loving all of His Creation, which also is not easy for many.
We must realise that life-force is an important factor in Creation and we must manifest it. We bring out life-force when we celebrate life by living life fully. Life-force is what makes us sing, dance and dream. All poetry comes from life-force.
We experience the joy of living when we bring out life-force. This also is a part of the awakening process.
A person on the way to Enlightenment will accept all the imperfections of this world without grumbling, complaining or getting angry. He will always be happy because he lives in Light and is on the way to becoming Light.
Even after Enlightenment (becoming Light), Sadhana continues under the guidance of God Himself. He is the Guru after Enlightenment. We require His guidance forever.

Suffering and Spiritual Progress

Suffering and Spiritual Progress – (Based on the teachings of Guruji Krishnananda)
“Is suffering absolutely necessary for our Spiritual progress?”
I have been asked this question many times by Spiritual aspirants.
No, suffering is not absolutely required. We can progress spiritually without suffering.
But suffering helps in many ways.
When we suffer, we learn to put down our egos and understand how to be humble.
Through our suffering, we can understand the pains and problems of others, and develop compassion. It also increases our level of endurance.
We suffer when we don’t find solutions to our problems at the physical level. So, we try to deal with life from a higher level.
Suffering helps us turn inward, which is very important for Spiritual Progress.
When we turn inward, we introspect and let go of our superficial activities. We tend to give up our superficial relationships and retain only deep and meaningful ones.
Turning inward helps us experience solitude, which helps in our awakening.
Suffering drives us towards spirituality and it really helps in spiritualising.

But that does not mean we cannot grow spiritually without suffering. It is not absolutely necessary.

what is ignorance

Ignorance is mainly about ourselves. We think we are the body or the mind. We are not these bodies. We are not the mind. We are not the intellect. We are not what or who we think we are.
We don’t know who we are. We are particles of Light. We are Souls. Many are not aware of this. This is ignorance.
Ignorance is believing that death is the end and we cease to exist after that.
This is not true. Death is a doorway. The body dies and we have a magnificent life after that.
Ignorance is about God, Creation and spirituality.
People normally don’t think about these things much when they have all the comforts of life. They say they don’t believe in God, and endlessly go after material possessions until something jolts them into awakening. Such a wakeup call could be the start of their spiritual journey.
What is Spiritual?
Spirituality is not going to temples or practising some rituals. It is just being good, honest and peaceful at all levels, which is very difficult to accept and believe for most.
Ignorance is about Meditation. People do not know much about the importance of Meditation. Ignorance is about Spiritual laws like the law of Karma, reincarnation, freewill, etc.

Our role during the Shift

Our role during the Shift

The conscience of the ordinary man has been stirred. And there is no going back. The changes that result from the transitory processes are permanent.
What is the role of us, the meditators during these times?
We are required to support these processes.
How to support them?
Very simple – meditate, positivise, reject all that is negative and channel Light. If you can do this, you will be participating in the greatest revolution the earth has ever seen.
In addition to following these, we have to help others do all this. We have to awaken and help others awaken to the present realities, awaken them to their true potential.
Spirituality is growing towards perfection. This includes helping others grow towards perfection. To be fully Spiritual, we also have to help others grow.
We have to share everything with others, whether it is material wealth, Spiritual wealth, energies, knowledge or hope. This is a Spiritual law.
We have to manifest love, and help others manifest love.
We must realize that if we do not awaken and participate in the work, the world will not wait for us and we will miss the opportunity.
